lftblock03 North East Region rtblock03

From the river Tweed in the north to the moors of North Yorkshire in the south, and from the North Sea to the Pennines, the North East of England has it all.

Miles of unspoilt coastline, dotted with small fishing ports and broken by the historic rivers of the region.

From the south, the river Tees, the steel river, who’s industry grew from the iron ore of the Cleveland hills and the black gold of the South Durham coalfields to the northernmost town, Berwick-on-Tweed with it’s historic fort standing guard against it’s long forgotton enemy, this region has a rich industrial and entrepreneurial heritage.

The North East has reinvented itself again and again and again. Agriculture, sheep farming, forestry and fishing have been with us down the centuries.

The changing face of the Tyne

We have seen shipbuilding, railways, steel manufacturing and much heavy engineering wax and wane but we are now witness to new industrial growth in bio-engineering, genetics, car manufacturing, IT and communications and medicine. Our history is populated by inventors and entrepreneurs, Swan, Lord Armstrong, Bolkow & Vaughan, Stephenson and many others. Our future lies with the new breed of entrepreneurs building new businesses right here in the north east.
